Sotheby’s will give the sole 1933 Saint-Gaudens double duty licensed as lawful to have by the U.S. government in an auction set for June.
The coin is possessed by Stuart Weitzman, a noted fashion designer. The identity of this coin’s owner was a closely guarded secret until today.
The June 8 auction is made up of just 3 tons, also contains two great rarities in the philatelic world, according to Sotheby’s:”the British Guiana One-Cent Magenta, the most well-known and valuable stamp on earth; along with The Inverted Jenny Plate Block, the many well-known and sought American American postage.”
This is breaking news. Coin World will have more comprehensive coverage afterwards.
