Sky, previously known as MakerDAO, is contemplating a return to its original brand due to community pushback. Co-founder Rune Christensen shared that any changes made should not have a negative impact on the project’s token holders.

The project has seen significant growth since rebranding, with its stablecoin USDS surpassing a supply of 1 billion just two weeks after launch. This growth has attracted $700 million into both USDS and DAI from new users. Additionally, USDS has been integrated into top DeFi platforms like Aave, Ethena, and Morpho, and the Sky.money website has seen over 400,000 visitors in its first month.

Despite these successes, the community has expressed concerns about the new Sky brand and the utility of its token. Many users are still loyal to MakerDAO and prefer holding MKR tokens over SKY. Christensen proposed three options to address these concerns: keeping the Sky brand, reverting to Maker with MKR as the governance token, or a hybrid solution that combines elements of both brands.

Christensen stressed that any changes should not negatively impact users or token holders, ensuring a smooth transition for everyone involved. A community call is scheduled for Oct. 25 to discuss and choose one of the proposed options, with a finalized proposal set to be published on Oct. 28 for further input. If approved, a formal vote will take place on Nov. 4 to determine the final course of action.
